El Capitan, Merced River, Clouds

I was inspired in many ways by this photograph. It showcases Adams's style very nicely. However, the main reasons I was inspired by this picture was because of it's aspect of nature and it's quality work.

For one, it's aspect of nature is different than most of his other photographs. In his other photos, he mostly displays one subject. Here he shows what I believe are the main components of nature. There are rocks, water, and trees. The way it is displayed is also done very well. In my photo, I tried to capture the rock, water, and tree components. There were both rocks in and out of the water and had the trunks/branches of many trees.

The other reason I was inspired by this photo was because of it's quality. Adams used the style of Straight Photography in this photo. He used as much detail and focus as he could using the F/64 aperture. The lighting was also great in this photo. The light coming past the clouds made the scene stand out. Finally, the contrast was well done. The darks in the tree were as dark as they sould have been and the whites in the sky and water were as light as they sould have been.
